19TH CENTURY STINK BOMB IN A WOOD BOX

This is one of the world’s first civilian stink bombs. Even though the stink bomb is as old as mankind itself, up to the 19th century they mostly served military purposes. Even during WWI and WWII the stink bomb was a very effective weapon. The French army deployed a bomb called ‘who me?’, which was a mixture of five sulfur-containing chemicals and smelled like rotting food and carcasses. Its purpose: to embarrass German officers by making them smell ‘funny’. This relatively harmless stink bomb only smells of rotten eggs. Which makes it unlikely to kill you, but might make you feel pretty nauseous, nonetheless.
