Slides are older than photographs, the first hand painted slides appeared in 1620, about 200 years before the invention of photography. Slide projectors were the television of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. They even had dissolving slides, back then. These miniature works of art are also great technical achievements: little frames with even smaller pins on the inside that fit exactly into the holes at the edge of a roll of film, so you could frame them yourself. And if that isn’t enough, these 24 slides even have technical achievements on them! Although just like the slides, these too will have been replaced by new techniques by now.
