There’s something wonderfully contradictory about these photographs; depictions of dead, stuffed animals, anthropomorphised by the photographer for the delectation of young children. The cards were meant for children to play with and create stories around the characters depicted—a skiing rabbit, a newspaper reading commuter hare, a frog and duckling duo on some kind of riverside detective mission. Although so lovingly created and seemingly sweet nature, owing to their somewhat morbid creation these kinds of toys just don’t exist anymore today.
