‘Meine dienstzeit’ translates literally as ‘my time of service’ which explains the contents of this album which has been specifically designed for German WWII soldiers. This album was created for a division of the German army that used spades to dig ground for certain projects during the war, hence the metal badge on the front cover. It is well known that many German soldiers active during WWII carried a camera which they used to document their experiences during their military duty.
