One knows a place has turned into a site when it appears on a souvenir. This ashtray does just that, showing the famous Torre degli Asinelli, the highest tower in Bologna. History has it that the city’s aristocratic families challenged each other’s wealth by building the highest possible tower in town. Many have since collapsed, but the tower has remained the symbol of the city to date.
