Often found at a weekend market or square; fiercely beloved and hated by many, is the barrel organ. An imposing, heavily decorated – and most importantly loud – music box on wheels, playing musical tunes or classical pieces for passersby. The organ operator is easily recognised by the small metal canister in his hand, swaying on the beat. The coins inside clanging along happily, inviting children to ask their parents for a coin or two to give. After all, what is better music to the ears than money?
