DENISE CARTER POPPEN PRESS BOOK

FRANCE - 1960s EA/FR/0041

This book was found inside the house of Madame Denise Carter, a Belgian woman who made dolls and dolls clothing, collected dolls and made scrapbooks about dolls. She became quite famous for her doll creations in the sixties. When the market vendor came into her house, looking for treasure after Madame Carter had died, he discovered dozens of dolls the size of children, sprawled across the whole house. Those dolls might still be there, because after he picked up this press book, the vendor thought he heard the sound of children crying and ran from the house never to return.
