Recently, textile art has found a new currency in the artworld. The medium’s tactility generates various reflections on: the role of women practitioners; the bias of craft versus fine art; the relation of textiles to cultural identity. This framed textile work from Hungary was probably made to celebrate a special occasion, still it resonates with today’s reaction to dematerialised works speaking the language of the digital.
