Following a period of civil unrest throughout France in the late sixties, the seventies formed an era of blooming fashion, cinema and disco. Thanks to the student and labor protests there was a substantial gain in wage for workers which raised the standards of living for most of the population significantly. People traveled more, owned more appliances and spent more money on food and drink. The French even had money to buy fake food and fake mugs which they used to prank each other. Besides this fake mug, the fake wine glass and fake champagne flute were very popular items at the time.
