Although this particular specimen was found in Romania, pin-thread frames were a common folk craft from across much of Europe during the late 19th century. The craft did continue into the first half of the 20th century but to find one from these years is much less common. This twists the way we typically view antiques; in this case the frames younger rather than older age make it more precious.
