HOME MADE RECORD SLEEVE

1960s EA/NL/0111

Willy Schobben was a famous trumpet player and conductor in the 1960s in the Netherlands. One of his most famous songs was ‘Mexico’, a cover of the 1961 single by Bob Moore, that reached the first place in Dutch hit parades in 1962, to stay there for a solid three months. The makers of this homemade sleeve for the record, must have thought Willy Schobben worthy of that praise. When they lost the original sleeve of their record, they even added their own enthusiasm to the title of the record: this is not just ‘Mexico’, but ‘Bravo Mexico’, accompanied by a trumpet player (perhaps the musician himself?), crowned with a massive sombrero.
