HUNTING PHOTO’S

1950s EA/FR/0125

They say some things are better left undiscovered. But then again, we tend to only believe the things we see with our own eyes. These pictures show the typical French colonialist archetype. Posing in front of dead animals. Making fun of monkeys. Making them wear a human hat and smoke a cigarette. Underneath one of the pictures the colonizers wrote – as if the monkey was speaking – “the first guy who touches me, I will kill him”. They clearly didn’t get killed, so let’s hope they got a big scratch.
