Although during the communist era, 90% of cars on the streets of Romania were a Dacia, many still fantasized about driving a prestigious Western car such as Volkswagen. Thus, the producer of this ring turned to a well-tried remedy: counterfeiting. Nowadays, an entire industry is dedicated to dismantling counterfeits, which make up over 3 percent of the entire world trade. With this ring, it is however pretty easy to expose the fraud: First of all, Volkswagen does not produce rings but automobiles. On top of that, it is not spelled Wolksvagen. Nevertheless, there is something charming about this clumsy attempt at luxury.
