The oldest paintings of animals are around 19,000 years old. These were found in caves in Lascaux in the south of France, and feature goats and horses that appear to belong to humans who are also shown in the paintings. Cats first made their appearance in artwork in ancient Egypt. The oldest known photograph of a dog is a daguerreotype of a white poodle titled Poodle with Bow, on Table, taken by an unknown photographer in the 1850s. None of this mattered, however, to Nera and Lassie who were happy being the center of attention in their Belgian home in the eighties.
