In 1967 Phil Bloom became the first woman to appear naked on Dutch television. For this act, she came to symbolise the progressive spirit of the Netherlands. With the coinciding of the sexual liberation in the 70s and the resurgence of puzzle popularity, it’s little wonder that the Dutch company ‘Fun Publications’ photographed her for this ‘Pleasure Puzzle for Men’. In the image, she stands naked at Het Lieverdje, legs apart, partially covered with the Amsterdam flag, surrounded by tulips, a teasing yet inviting expression on her face. The mix of typical Dutch elements and English language hint that this puzzle might’ve traveled around the world as a tourist souvenir.
