When we strike up a match, we rarely think about the history behind these little sticks that provide us with fire and its uses. Since the beginning of mankind, humans have been trying to harness fire, yet it’s only in the last 200 years that a couple of European inventors discovered how to create the safety match that we know and use today. Once we’d created this technology, we had to package it, and thus we come to this collection of pictorial matchbooks and boxes from the 70s and 80s. They prove that no space is too small to leave untouched by advertising or other promotion.
